Popular post-Covid-19 travel destinations: Get beach-ready

As restrictions ease further in the UK, many holidaymakers have started booking holidays abroad. Travellers from England, Wales, and Scotland have already begun jetting off to sunnier climes to enjoy some much-deserved fun and relaxation. Only 12 countries are currently on the government’s green list for overseas travel. However, they’ve said that it’s highly likely that there will be more countries listed in June, providing us with much more choice. The list will be reviewed every three weeks. Read on to check out some of the most enticing destinations on the globe right now.

Madeira

As one of the only ‘sun and sand’ destinations on the government’s green list, Portugal has seen a huge jump in popularity. The rugged north coast of Madeira is in particularly high demand thanks to its beautiful landscapes, sunny weather, and great food and drinks. With both sand and pebble beaches along with natural and manmade swimming pools, this destination is sure to provide you with a beach break to remember. There are few better places to enjoy the sun, sea, and sand than enchanting Madeira.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar is also proving popular with UK sunseekers. Part-British-part-Spanish, the blend of cultures here makes it a fascinating place to visit. The Mediterranean climate makes it the ideal destination for a beach holiday at any time of the year. Pleasant temperatures and minimal rainfall ensure it’s a great place to take a dip, sunbathe, and let the stresses from the past year melt away!

Iceland

Whilst Iceland may not be famous for its golden sands and palm trees, it’s still a great choice if you’re seeking a swimming hotspot like no other. Geothermal heat makes outdoor swimming and bathing here a fantastic experience, with some springs and lagoons reaching around 36 °C. You can enjoy your daily swim here whatever the weather! Iceland is one of the most incredible places to relax and unwind in Europe.

Faroe Islands

If you’d prefer to holiday a little closer to home this year, why not check out the Faroe Islands? The Faroese Government has eased travel restrictions to the Faroe Islands and the welcoming Faroe Islanders are ready to welcome visitors once again. The Faroe Islands have some of the most stunning scenery in the world, with rugged peaks, spectacular valleys and stunning beaches making it a picture-perfect location. Don’t forget your camera!

Capri

Capri is one of Italy's most popular islands. An exclusive destination in the Gulf of Naples, it’s renowned for its designer boutiques. However, it has more going for it than just shopping, with an eclectic mix of beaches making it the ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing. Whilst the island isn’t yet on the green list, it has declared itself nearly “Covid-free”. Therefore, we can expect it to be a popular destination for UK holidaymakers in the not too distant future.
